very unique

I like the beat. Weird sounds in rhythm... wow. Very cool. The bass line sinks so perfectly into the track. Its one that you don't need to hear, because you feel it. Thats the best kind of bass line.

When phones are dialed on Earth, I think this song is what what entities in parallel universes hear.

Truly some crazy sounds were put into this with some strange method of organization. Its really hard to review this but I was glad to see LJC on the top 5 so I had to drop a comment. This song needs to go in a trippy flash. I think I might try and do that.

I hope I don't have to stuff like this to have a career in music because I can't even begin to grasp how you put this together. The organization and variation mix up so perfectly. I've been listening for a while, and although the bassline is pretty repetiive, I can't remember hearing the same pattern twice and I know the song must have looped at least 4 or 5 times by now. How? Mind blowing... my mind is blown.

Good one LJ, keep them coming.

Let's see, "phones are dialed...parallel universes hear" that was great!

As far as having to "do stuff like this to have a career in music" - Don't worry at all about that, just look at my music career - ha ha - apparently doinf stuff like this is a pre-requisite for not ever having anything that resembles a career or fans XD

I really enjoyed your review.

Thanks again!

Fun but kind of weak

Good to see some metal entries in the contest. This is some fine guitar work, but overall it sound very weak.

The guitar is played nicely but I don't like how the distortion sounds. The guitar just sounds weak. Maybe some bass would have helped and some better guitar effects. I think you should have put some more guitar soloing or playing with the higher frequencies a bit. All these things would have made the loop much heavier sounding. I do like the riff though, good stuff.

The drums are as boring and repetitive as they get. I imagine you do not have the proper equipment to set up a drum part to put your guitar on. Either way you managed to get something that sounds like its basically lacking effort-wise... I'm not dissing your ability, I'm saying you could have done better but you didn't.

Hey, least you got used in a badass flash at the very least. Better than I did =X. Keep at it and have Bad-Man-Inc make you more drums, cause "this hate inside us!" sounds WAY better simply because of those drums. Good job on that guitar riff though.

A long and detailed review for such a small loop. lol.

Hm...you're really one of the first who think that my guitar sounds weak. Maybe it's because of the compression or the fact, that I don't have bass (yet) in my submissions. A guitar is focused on the middles and highs you know. Bass gives all tunes a better brighter, not as bla weak sound. But I get your point. ;)

Drums? Oh yeah...my big problem...is history. I got EZdrummer now as well and I'm doing pretty well with it. No more beatcrap for me. :D

Indeed, the usage for flashmovies kinda suprised me a little there but it's cool stuff, so I'm pretty happy with it. Also, I got 3rd place in the contest, which was kick ass as well. :D

Thanks a lot for the big review man! I'll pay ya back soon! ;D

Fun.

This is a very original loop and has a shit load of reviews. Just to be fair I'm going to review it, I really don't think you're in need of more feedback.

There's lots of variation on the drums, which I like. Reverse hits and lots of funky sounds in all three of my ears. Sounds really good and mixed up, and hardly gets boring over time.

Other than the beat theres little to catch my interest. The whistling feedback sound is kinda funky and adds a little something and the bass is very clear.

Overall I like the track, but I don't see it being particularly useful in a flash. And especially being a loop that makes a difference. I think you should extend it to full length and try and get into a flash for the Rock Out Contest. As a full length song, this WOULD be awesome in a flash. Basically, the funky beat would be fun to click too.

You had the perfect opportunity to make this into a seamless loop but you didn't for some reason. By this I mean there are points in the song where it is nearly completely silent for enough time that you could hide the mp3 data that makes it unloopable. I doubt you really care, but its kind of disappointing. The loop is decent though and unless I pay attention I barely notice the loop.

Overall a fun track to listen too, but a little to funky for that pico feel. I still think you should make an extended version for a rhythm game. Scrolling down your page, I see you'd have no problem getting it used in a flash.

not so loopy but badly fun

If you had skipped the intro and gone straight to the chase, this would be one sick ass loop. I love the way it sounds but as far as a loop goes, why do you put an introduction?

I like the buildup but it destroys the looping ability.

That screaming organ melody is sick. You compose two notes and they are better than anything I've ever shat out. Damn you.

Overall the bass goes awesome with it too. Some crazy, funky sound was put into this. Really an awesome loop. One of the best musically, but that intro kills it. I could see it used well in a short. I think you should just make a full song out of it.

Overall I like the sound. Catchy as fuck and badly fun to listen to. Yes, badly. Good luck anyhow and keep them sweet tracks rollin'.

Um... this song is "down with the sickness"

Its the tortured bass entry. Who knows how you managed to mangle the bassline in such a cool way. I like it. Sounds like pure high voltage electrical current from a telephone pole trying to sing as it zaps nearby pedestrians.

Besides the bass there not much to it though. Its a very simple track, that is to say a little too simple. No real melody, but theres a sort of theme provided by the asphyxiation of the bass. Did I mention that bassline is sick? Like literally sick, I think it has laryngitis.

I do think some high tones could have helped you here. That bass screams into the entire spectrum, but even where it doesn't needs some coverage from a higher synth. Without, the loop sounds good but a little lacking.

I like that first sound you got in this. I really don't know what that is. It sounds like it should be easy to describe, but I can't for some reason. I think I already used all my adjectives on that bassline and I'm fresh out. Shit what a pointless paragraph...

The drums are cool. I need some good drum loops, mine are all shit, but this one is sick. Not like the bassline sick, either. This is more like the bubonic plague or Spanish flu type of sick.

The loop is pretty obvious but if I'm not paying attention I can't even notice it. Fuckin' mp3's eh? I almost stayed out of the contest because mp3's are such a bitch to get looping correctly. Nothing special here on the loop, but its better than average and as a .wav there would be no gap.

A very good loop but its lacking in some areas. I think you should have given it a little bit more effort, because what you got sounds good so you obviously have the skillz to improve it even more. Overall its fun to listen to so who gives a fucckkk - just vote five and shut the hell up, right?

Goomba Slaughterfest

Some good stuff you got here. Very impressive, I don't remember hearing this entry. There are some loops that do everything music correct that I just can't stand the sound of, and then there ones that do the same but for some reason I really like. This is the latter.

I like the instrument that starts it out. It sounds like it has some kind of LP, BP or HP filter on it. I can't really tell, maybe its just flanger. Its always a good thing when I can't tell how a sound was made.

In the middle and toward the end theres a really cool sound I like. Sounds like a gumba getting pissed off from Mario 64. Pissed off gumbas kick ass.

Theres some synths in there I don't like too much, but mostly it sounds good. The bass line is on the verge of "a little too simple." Again still sounds good, you got enough stuff going on besides it to fill the void. The lead melody which sounds like its played sytrus instrument (which I doubt it is) or some kind of flute synth sounds pretty good. Can't think of anything I'd do differently with any of this.

Overall a good loop. I can listen to for a long time before I get sick of it and the loop, although obvious, works out and doesn't loose the flow of the song. I don't know how long it is, but I think you should have the length and added some variation. Maybe some pirana plants and koopa troopas...? I guess a goomba or two is enough.

As for pumping me up for battle I'd say it does its job. Its fast tempo and a little bit crazy, but unfortunately the main melody is actually quite calming. My ears don't know what to think - slice my opponents head off or drink a pina colada by the pool. Hell, either way its fun to listen to and what else could matter?

Fun to review too. Keep the good ones rollin' and maybe I'll stop by again some day. Actually I will... for you other loop =X.

Cool song, bad loop

I have to with what Bezman said about this one. It sounds like you were making an intro and then an actual loop - good idea if you split them up, but in this case bad idea.

I do like the intro though. However, the drums are just a tad too crazy and throw it off. The drums in the rest of the song are simple and get the job done.

This is a very original piece. I like the bells and it's strong on all the musical aspects. I like the little chaotic breakdowns at the end - gives it that chaotic battle sound like you'd hear in oldschool video game. This is definitely distinguishable as a battle loop and thats a good thing.

I think if it weren't for the poor looping cause by that introduction, you'd have something pretty good here. Unfortunately, it throws the loop off and makes it hard to say how well it will do. Either way good luck.

Alpharhino responds:

Thanks for the advice. I definatly see what you meen about the bad loop, and this may have been a case where adding something extra took away from the whole. But thanks for both your criticisms and your praises.

Good sound, repetitve.

I wrote a much longer review, as I usually do, but I fucking closed the window on accident! I'm pissed.

Anyways, time to sum it up in a scrambled irrational review - the song is badass and really repetitive. It doesn't loop perfectly and the drums are cool. I can't say much for the vox, they were cool but would have been better if the song was full length.

5/5 from me, I wish I hadn't closed the damn box... I said all that and more in 6 long ass paragraphs. Damn what a waste of time. Good work and good luck with the contest, its a cool song and I'd write out another long review, but theres like 40 more entries I plan on reviewing. Peace.

thanks for the review

again, this is incomplete cuz i misunderstood the deadline by a whole month haha. It loops perfectly now and i already made a full length song out of it, but if i upload em, ppl will leave bad reviews.. :/

+ average looping, good sound, a little repetitve

This contest really pulled out some interesting loops. Pretty amazing what kind of stuff you get for a contest with one relatively small payout. This is definitely a good example of that. In other words, this is just a really unique loop.

I like the way the song changes more than anything. You have the music cut out and go to drums, then bring something totally new in for just a couple bars to finish off the loop. The loop really does lacks in diversity, but I'm talking quality over quantity.

There have been many good entries I don't even know how well this will do... I'm glad I'm not a judge. This loop's hard, unique sound gives a good edge in my opinion and I just plain like the way it sounds compared to most of the other loops, yet it get repetitive relatively fast. I don't see these as needing to loop for more than a couple minutes and I had it looping for a while before I came to that conclusion. These things are really hard to review, I hope I'm not going back and forth with my words too much.

As for the loop - it loops pretty well - I'd say a little above average. There wasn't much put into making it loop other than it starts in the right spot and ends in the right spot. So really nothing special, but good to the point that it can be useful in a flash and isn't annoying. Them damn mp3's are near impossible to loop right - I know.

I think thats about as many words as I can scramble together and call a review for now. I hope you do well in the contest... if those damn results ever come in =X

Craziness x 3.14

I gotta be honest... way too chaotic. It has some balance, rhythm and organization, but it definitely need more of each.

I can tell you really went crazy with this one. 100 patterns? Yeah... you should have spread it out. But really I'm exaggerating a bit. If you kept took out just a FEW of the samples, it would have been so much better.

I do like the snare that changes pitch. Sound really cool, would have worked better with less stuff jumbled behind it.

The panning effect is awesome too. Really some good stuff put into this, you just need to put some more effort into simplifying it for the better, if that makes sense.

That beeping is no good, it might have been better without all the extra noise, but with it it sounds pretty bad.

I honestly have to say I don't like this one overall. You put some cool stuff together, but just went way overboard and drowned the whole thing. Its pretty short and doesn't loop beyond average. Pretty harsh review coming from me, but I know you could do better than this. Keep them coming hopefully the reviews help and encourage you, and nice the opposite. A little constructive critisicm or whatever the term is.
